Primal instinct...

This description, taken from a pregnancy site, is all me right now...

Around the fifth month of pregnancy, the "nesting" instinct can set in. This is an uncontrollable urge to clean one's house brought on by a desire to prepare a nest for the new baby, to tie up loose ends of old projects and to organize your world.

Females of the animal kingdom are all equipped with this same need. It is a primal instinct. Just as you see birds making their nests, mothers-to-be do exactly the same thing. The act of nesting puts you in control and gives a sense of accomplishment toward birth. You may become a homebody and want to retreat into the comfort of home and familiar company, like a brooding hen. The nesting urge can also be seen as a sign of the onset of labor when it occurs close to 40 weeks of pregnancy.

Nesting brings about some unique and seemingly irrational behaviors in pregnant women and all of them experience it differently. Women have reported throwing away perfectly good sheets and towels because they felt the strong need to have "brand new, clean" sheets and towels in their home. (Funny I just thought, "I want to get two new fluffy white towels for the bathroom to match the new shower curtain that I had to get NOW.")

They have also reported doing things like taking apart the knobs on kitchen cupboards, just so they could disinfect the screws attached to the knobs. Women have discussed taking on cleaning their entire house, armed with a toothbrush. There seems to be no end to the lengths a nesting mother will go to prepare for her upcoming arrival.

*Today my primal instinct told me to fill the nail holes in the walls and cover them with touch-up paint. And that was only the beginning.

*Photo thanks to Mase, and explains why I don't have a head.

Dance...

Sierra had her first Chinese Dance performance this week. She has never participated in a real dance performance before and didn't know what to expect. Once it was over she seemed to really like it and is excited for the next few. I am pretty sure the highlights were the costume and sparkly blush.

Sierra is Seven!

When did my BYU baby grow up?! She turns seven today! Looking at baby pictures of Sierra made me realize my time with my babies and children goes by way too fast.

Uncle Garrett's on tour...

Eric's brother Garrett (far left) is on tour in Europe with his band Uzi and Ari. This is Garrett's first tour with the band. You can hear the music here.

Eric's sister is not on tour but is practicing her skills on the kid's guitar.

Traditions...

On Christmas Eve we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. The kids love dressing up and being part of the Nativity.

Snow Shoe Adventure

Eric went on a snow shoe trip with the scouts and some friends. Sledding, snow caves, and some sleeping I think. I don't think I would have made it all night in the snow cave but Eric said it was luxury. I like the big wood stove that is in the cabin.

AG...

Ever heard of American Girls? Eric wishes he hadn't but the girls in our family sure love them. Thank you Grandma C. for the dresses!

Smile for the camera!

I forced everyone except Mason to be in this picture. Can you tell?
