I usually don't "blog." I do pictures. Here is more of a blah, blah about the pictures.
As a mother there are a lot of things I have not figured out. Here is one of those things.
When do I start my kids in soccer, ballet, gymnastics, voice lessons, piano lessons, T-ball, horseback riding, fencing, French, etc., etc.
We meet Sierra at the bus stop at 3ish. We walk home, have a snack and then I let the kids be free. We try to do chores before dinner, it's hit and miss, dinner is at 6pm and bedtime 7:30-8ish. In my mind that leaves very little time for the "other" category. We have tried Girl Scouts and dance and other little "others" but then the kids don't have time to feed the horses. Feeding the horses is very important to me, my kids need it, I need it. Fresh air, worms, dirt, trees, rain and horses.
I do hope they will all play the piano someday and have various other talents and interests. But if they can't play Mary Had a Little Lamb on the piano or saxophone until they are 12 I am okay with that. They will know what dirt between their toes feels like (my carpet will too), a rope swing, free afternoons, houses in trees, running for fun, hikes in the forest and important things like watching Leave it to Beaver and the old Pink Panther cartoons.
I've blah, blogged enough for me.
So go feed your horses. (Don't forget the deer and buffalo too.)
PS Swim lessons are something I
do know when to do, now. A child needs to know how to swim.
