The snake charmer...

Snakes, tie-dye and a purple light saber, looks like a snake charmer to me.

Yep, this is the girl who was scared of a skunk (who wouldn't be). This is a Garter snake as far as I can tell and we have a few around the garden. I knew Allie and Mason had been trying to catch one but I did not think they really would. Notice the first time Allie picked it up she wasn't wearing a glove, but Mason wasn't so sure about the bare hand method. Once he used the garden glove Allie thought she needed it too.

PS I do not pick up snakes, ever.

Critters...

We only lived one mile from our "old" house but we have a lot of new critters. Snails, slugs, snakes ,deer, three fawns we have been watching from our windows, squirrels, ground squirrels, skunks (the smell anyway) and a baby raccoon. Allie ran inside the other day very scared. She was sure she saw a skunk. I ran to look out the window but saw nothing. She said it was black and white and as small as a squirrel. We are hoping it was just this little guy, something she has never seen before.
Can you see the little black and white face peeking out? I know it's tiny but look right under the branch. We think this is the mystery skunk Allie saw, well hoping, because it's a baby raccoon.

We went outside to watch the fawns, they are cute but I could do without deer in my yard.

A conversation between Mason and Allie:

A: We saw a bread today.
M: A bread?
A: Yeah, me and Mom saw a bread.
M: I don't know what you are saying.
A: You know a mommy deer.
M: You mean a doe?
A: Yeah, a doe.

I can see in their minds they have been saying "dough." It's nice to know they have some kind of an idea where bread comes from.

Garrett x's two...

I was just looking at some old pictures. Where did baby Garrett go? And Uncle Garrett for that matter, hi Garrett.

We saw the sun today!

It takes guts, and some vanity, and here I am...

And more importantly here are the bangs for those of you who asked. I am a pretty hip Mom, just in case you were wondering. That or I am back in Kindergarten, take your pick.

Allie and Mason took these pictures, not too shabby.

Time....

We took some time to get away. We found a very rustic cabin on a river, well maybe only a little rustic, ran together in the wildflowers, made a fancy dinner, watched a movie with no interruptions and slept in. How is this possible you may ask? Leave the kids with Grandma and Grandpa for a night.

It was like another world. I wish I were heading there right about now.

Opportunities...

Today Allie was saying her prayers and added something new. "Thank you for the opportunities." When she finished I said "opportunities is a big word, where did you learn it?" She said, " they say it in prayers at church." I guess she is paying attention.
