Elevation, Desire, Helter Skelter?

On Sunday Eric was sitting in nursery with Allie (because she will not go alone.) The kids were sitting on carpet squares and were supposed to share their favorite song...primary song. Eric said Allie was being her quiet, grumpy nursery self until she got to share her favorite song. She said, " My favorite song is Elevation!." Enjoy some special U2 pictures and then read on....

The kids had an interesting conversation at dinner considering their ages, 6, 4, and 2. They wanted to watch a whole concert but I told them it was too close to bedtime so they could pick a few songs. Here is how the conversation went:

(If you aren't familiar with U2 you may not be impressed or this conversation will not make any sense, but if you are a U2 fan you will definitely be impressed.)

Sierra-"Mom you said we could watch a whole concert.

"Mom-"I know but it's too close to bedtime so you can pick a few songs."

Sierra-"How about 10?"

Mason-"How about 20, no 90!"

Sierra-"I want the new Desire, Clocks, Love and Peace..."

Allie-"And Elevation(Which sounds like Elebation.)"

Mason-"I want Helter Skelter, Desire, Vertigo and...."

Allie-"Do you want Elebation?"

Dad-"Why don't you go make a list of 5 or six songs?"

Allie-"Do you want Elebation?"

Maybe you can guess we like watching concerts and it has rubbbed off on the kids. Their favorite seems to be U2 but here is the final list they made up all on their own.

New Desire
Love and Peace
New Vertigo
Helter Skelter
Clocks
Fast Fiddle

"New" means Eric is introducing them to a new version, and as you can see they added Coldplay and The Charlie Daniels Band. Fast Fiddle translates to The Devil Went Down to Georgia.

We have them trained well, no Wiggles or Barney concerts in this family!

All of the pictures of our friends Bono, Larry, Adam and Edge are from a Portland Concert Eric went to in 2005.

Garden Party

I've wanted to have a Garden Party for a long time and I finally did it. I don't have a flower garden so maybe it was really a Lawn Party. Either way I loved setting up the table and flowers. My neighbor has bushes and bushes of hydrangeas and let me come and pick more than a bucketful. She is a very sweet old lady. I wish I could have this many flowers on my table every night at dinner. Maybe I just need to have more Garden Parties!

Ahhh, flowers....

It was hot!

This is Michelle the birthday girl, she needed a pink crown to help celebrate.

(I had to add this picture Michelle.)

The table...

Friends and food

More flowers

Place settings

Even more flowers

I am going to plant hydrangeas someday...

Summertime...

The kids are tan, our Otter Pop supply is being used up, the slip and slide is out, the grass is dead, school is around the corner, I don't worry about when the last bath was taken, the sky is blue, the play structure is well used, the bikes are in the driveway, and I won't mention what time I got out of bed this morning.
It must be
summertime!

One berry two berry pick me a blueberry...

It's berry picking time here. We have picked pounds and pounds of blueberries from the blueberry farm down the road. There is nothing better in the blueberry world than an Oregon blueberry. Today Sierra and Mason discovered the blackberries on the edge of our property are ripe. More berries and more berry eating!

Quickberry, quackberry pick me a blackberry!*

*Check out the book Jamberry by Bruce Degan for more berry rhymes.
